“Before the season began, a fiberglass repair had to be made to our tallest slide. The location of the repair necessitated rappelling down the steepest and tallest portion of the slide surface to perform the repair in an inverted orientation. Having little experience in either rappelling or fiberglass repair, Ms. King immediately volunteered for the job. While I was prepping the ropes and harness, Ms. King was intent on learning the rigging that I was setting up. Each time we brought her back up for more supplies, she would discuss how she could better perform the fiberglass repair. Her inquisitive nature and ambitious attitude enabled her discovery of a serious structural issue with the slide’s supporting frame that likely would have gone unnoticed otherwise. In this manner, she was directly responsible for improving the safety of an attraction and of the park as a whole.”
